When we fell,
Did the planets fall with us?
Does the sun now burn dangerously?
And was the moon smooth before?
Does evil touch where we can’t?
Were galaxies made imperfect by a bite?
Do stars explode because of our sin?
Were black holes there before?
All I know is that we
Brought nature down with us.
But does that include that which we never met?
Probably.
It’s still beautiful though,
In all its silent destruction.
When we’re new I suppose
That’ll be new too.
